There's been a great result for the winner of the $5,000 Pre-Inspection voucher that was awarded by the TBQA at the March Magic Millions Sale earlier this year.
Lyle Rowe was the lucky winner of the competition, which was entered by trainers or owners who inspected yearlings at the Sale in the days prior to the auction starting.
He used his $5,000 voucher towards the purchase of a Spirit of Boom out of Lantern Court filly and is reaping the rewards.
Named 'Legal Ties' because her connections all work in law firms, the promising filly had her first start in the Rockhampton Capricorn Breeders 2yo Fillies Maiden Hcp on Friday for a win.
Legal Ties jumped well and led all the way before being taken on at the 200m by Gracie Belle who looked like beating her, but she dug deep and kicked away to win by 1.3 lengths.
Lyle is understandably thrilled with the result.
"She'd won her two trials and went in odds-on," said Lyle.
"I was pretty confident with her, right from the beginning she showed that she was very professional and went about her business very positive so I’ve always thought she’d be alright."
All going well Lyle wants to give her one more run at Mackay towards the end of the month before sending her out to the paddock.
He plans to target the lucrative QTIS races, with the ultimate aim the big Magic Millions race that's run in Rockhampton early next year.
It seems that there's a great story behind all the great horses, and Legal Ties is no exception.
Lyle was keen to use his $5,000 and bid on a few horses that he liked but they went past his budget.
"At the end of the day James Dawson From Magic Millions came and saw me and showed me the filly, she'd been passed in for $25,000," chuckled Lyle as he recounts his luck.
"I really liked her and, thanks to the voucher that I'd won, I was able to buy her, so it’s a great story and I really need to thank James for pointing her out to me!"
