With the juvenile trials coming thick and fast, Spill The Beans’ son Tumbler Ridge produced an exciting effort at Eagle Farm on Monday morning to take out his 800m heat by three and a half lengths.
Trainer Steven O’Dea was suitably impressed with the effort of the colt.
“I was really pleased with him today,” stated O’Dea post trial. “I really like the way this horse has improved as we’ve tightened things up with him and increased the pressure on him. He’s got a great attitude.”
“I’ve got a couple of Spill The Beans’ in the stable and they’ve got good minds on them, they approach their work really well and you see him here today – he lengthened out really good late, he’s got a nice big action on him and I think when he gets over even further he will be even better suited.”
With a large book of 140 plus two-year-old’s from his first book, it is exciting to think that Spill The Beans’ is already kicking goals with his early trial runners and with the prospect of what is still to come, the future looks promising.
Gr.1 trainers such as Gerald Ryan, Freedman Racing and Greg Hickman have all given their Spill The Beans’ juveniles very positive reports, while Tony Gollan felt that the stallion looked capable of becoming the next Champion First Season Sire, giving Queensland-based stallions three consecutive titles.
Unbeaten himself as a two-year-old, winning a trial and two race day appearances, Spill The Beans progressed at three to capture the Gr.3 Eskimo Prince Stakes, before taking out the Gr.3 Hawkesbury Guineas by over two lengths.
At his final start, the son of Snitzel captured the Gr.2 QTC Cup at Eagle Farm defeating a high-class field which included Gr.1 winner Stratum Star.
Having covered three quality books of mares to date at Aquis’ Canungra property, Spill The Beans has embarked on another covering season where he has kicked off in fantastic style, with his first eight mares scanned in foal.
