MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the State breeding Association (Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland Association or TBQA) is essential for every breeder.

During the EI crisis we had a very big influence with the Government and The DPI in particular on many issues. Our opinion and expertise were sought on many occasions.

The biggest factor in being sought out to give advice on behalf of an industry is the size of the membership.

If you are not a member of the TBQA WHY NOT JOIN NOW?

There are 2 ways of joining.

1.      Download the membership form and return it with a cheque for $77

     2.      Some years such as 2007-2008 & 2008-2009 we have given automatic membership to any breeder that registered a yearling in the QTIS scheme. We may or may not offer that next year. That decision will be made by the committee in due course.

At $77 it is very good value so don’t delay join today.

The good news is we now have almost 1200 members and they represent at least that number again of industry participants.

We a have the largest representation of the any of the Breeder organizations in  any state.

We have many ongoing issues to deal with on behalf of the Queensland

Here are 10 issues that need strong representation from the TBQA

  1. Horse Disease Response Levy Bill is listed for next week in the Australian Parliament
  2. The Callahan Report is due out, but that does not mean that the Government will follow any, all or some of the recommendations. What is the Thoroughbred breeding industry strategy following the release of the Government's response
  3. Ongoing Vaccination of Thoroughbred performance horses
  4. Country racing and general programming and pize money issues. Changes and improvement of the QTIS scheme
  5. The Governance of The Queensland Racing industry
  6. Ensuring the racing Minister and the Queensland Government is kept aware of the Thoroughbred Breeding Industries importance in Queensland, and what issues are important to us
  7. Representation on Thoroughbred Breeders Australia so decisions are made in the best interests of breeders in this state
  8. General promotion and marketing of the Queensland Thoroughbred breeding Industry
  9. Pursuing Thoroughbred Industry’s interests within Queensland in the face of criticism from the NON Thoroughbred sector
  10. Making sure the Queensland DPI&F know who to go to on issues concerning Queensland Thoroughbred Breeding.
